Licensing guide

Know exactly what you own.

Music rights have a reputation for small print. Ours work the other way: every beat and every commission comes with a written licence in plain language, agreed before you pay.

Store beats

The four tiers

MP3 lease
£25
Untagged MP3, non exclusive. Release one song, monetise up to the streaming cap in your licence, one distribution platform. The demo and first release tier.
WAV lease
£45
Untagged WAV and MP3, non exclusive. Higher streaming cap and one music video. The single release tier.
Exclusive rights
From £250
Full files and stems, and the beat comes off the store permanently. Nobody else can license it after you. Priced per beat, based on its history.
The rules of the road

How the tiers behave

  • Leases are non exclusive, which means the same beat stays on the shelf for other artists until someone buys the exclusive. Your licence survives any later exclusive sale, so your released song is always safe.
  • Upgrades count what you paid. Moving from MP3 lease to WAV, or WAV to Unlimited, deducts your earlier payment from the new tier.
  • Producer credit is part of every lease: prod. Beat Matrix in your track credits and descriptions.
  • Exclusive rights transfer the master to you. The underlying composition remains registered to Beat Matrix, which is the standard structure across the industry, and the split is stated in your agreement.
  • Every purchase generates a written agreement automatically at checkout on BeatStars, with your name, the date and the exact terms.
Commissioned work

Rights on custom projects

  • Custom beats and full productions are exclusive to you from day one. They never appear on the store.
  • Book scores are licensed to your title, or published under your book’s name with royalty splits agreed up front, depending on your package. The agreement states which, in plain language.
  • Space and exhibition scores carry a direct licence for your venue and showing, with duration and renewal terms written into the quote.
  • Sync use for film, advertising or games is quoted per placement. If you think your project might travel, say so in the brief and the licence is built to allow it.
